As Passover begins, Israel-Hamas war is top of mind for Palm Beach Jewish community

As the temples in Palm Beach prepare for the first day of Passover, the Israel-Hamas war is top of mind for many Jewish residents.

New Synagogue

At the New Synagogue, families gathered Sunday for a Story-in-Song interactive workshop retelling the Jewish people’s exodus from Egypt. The workshop is one of the activities planned for the temple’s Passover celebration.

New Synagogue Rabbi Barak Bar-Chaim, said that with the hostages still in Gaza, the bitter herbs on worshippers’ Seder plates will represent more than the Jewish people’s enslavement by the Ancient Egyptians.

“The pain and suffering of bondage represented by the bitter herbs are more heartfelt and our appreciation and prayers for physical and spiritual redemptions are more acute,” Bar-Chaim said. “May redemption come for the Jewish people and the entire world soon in our days!
